update on tommy

Subject: Tommy

Tommy went to the OR today and had his central iv line removed. He did well. The love of his life,Dr.Leslie was there with him.She worked night shift in the ER at the hospital. He was telling her he loved her as he swayed on the stretcher like a little drunkard from the versed and fentyl. The girls in the recovery room got a charge out of him.He saved the line.He was going to trick the girls on the bonemarrow unit.He was going to tape part of it to his chest and then let them try to draw blood from it.After he slept at home,he decided to chop it to mini pieces instead.Shelly soaked it in bleach before she let him touch it even with gloves. He was so excited to get it out but a little tearful before surgury. It broke my heart. His labs are off some. He's waiting for his appointment next Thursday so he can soak Dr.Staba and she now can wet him back because the line is out.God is so good.Dr.Miller told Shelly yesterday that they just diagnosed another boy with addison'sand is awaiting results for ALD all because of Tommy.God works in many ways. When they wheeled Tommy from PACU to the car,he told them all about his Father,Jesus and the Holy Spirit. He amazes me.
The orthopedic surgeon saw me yesterday.I can have surgury and be out for 6 weeks or try pt for 4 weeks.I opted to try the physical therapy first.I handed paperwork in today at work.If they refuse leave without pay I'll just retire.Human resources said I can get cobra for up to 18 months.I need the insurance.I got to get my pressure under control. It was 140 Thursday morning then went up to 180's when I was in Dr,Gupta's office.
The benefit for Tommy is next weekend.A girl that is racing a truck at the races called Shelly. She wants a picture of him to make a decal to put on her hood.Since Tommy said he was going to put Master of Miracles on "his" truck when he grows up,she's going to put it on her truck.Pretty neat, huh!
